Many patients suffer from anxiety before and during a visit to the dentist. While we make every effort to provide a calming and comfortable environment for our patients, we recognize that some patients need additional support for anxiety.
We provide optional oral sedation to help you keep calm during your appointment. You simply take the medication before your appointment. We ask that you refrain from eating or drinking at least two hours before your treatment. The medication will relax you and relieve your anxiety.
Please note that sedatives will impair your ability to drive so you will need to arrange transportation home from our office after your appointment.
Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is a tried-and-true dental sedative. The gas is administered by a mask and produces a mild to moderate level of sedation during your treatment. Nitrous oxide sedation wears off quickly after your appointment and won’t leave you drowsy.
